Terrorist Attacks at Data Ganj Bakhsh (Lahore)

The mausoleum of Hadrat Ali Hijveri (formally known as Data Ghanj Bux – Distributor of Treasures) has been the visiting place for thousands of pilgrims for many last centuries. It is estimated that at least 30 thousand pilgrims visit the shrine of Hazrat Data Ghanj Bux every Thursday. Hazrat Data sahib is considered as the highest sufi saint in the sub-Indian continent and his mausoleum, located in the lively city of Lahore (Pakistan), is visited by many to seek religious and spiritual guidance.

In the last 10 centuries, many disturbing events have taken place in the sub-Indian continent. However, no one in the past has dared to pollute the sacredness of the shrine of Hazrat Data sahib. During the Mughul rule, imperialism, rule of Sikh Rajas, and even at the time of independence, the sacredness of the tomb of Hadrat Ali Hajveri was upheld by the ruling and the oppressed sections of the society. Every religious community has benefited from the teachings and practices of the Hazrat Data sahib and after his departure from this physical world, his resting place has been the fountain of love, peace and tranquility.

This peace was only disturbed on the night of 2nd July 2010 by the terrorist attacks. In an unprecedented event, three suicide bombers attacked the peaceful shrine of Hadrat Data Ganj Bakhsh on Thursday night when 25 thousand people had come to make prayers at the blessed resting place of Data sahib.

The people who have carried such atrocities have no conscious and moral values. They belong to no religion as every religion teaches love and harmony. They did not carry out such attacks in the name of religion, but only to spread anarchy and disturbance on this earth.

The day after the attack, despite grave security concerns, thousands of people flocked to the Data Darbar to offer the Friday prayer and to show to the whole world and to the terrorists that the people of Pakistan will not be intimidated by such suicide bombings. All the religious scholars of different school of thoughts also came together to show their unity.

People coming to Data Darbar right after these attacks also shows that the significance and importance of Data Darbar cannot be undermined no matter how brutal terrorist attacks can be. Data Darbar is the most sacred and holy mausoleum in Pakistan. People of Pakistan have great love and bond with Hazrat Data Ghanj Bux. These terrorists have tried to hurt not just the people of Lahore, but every single Pakistani of every age and gender, including members of every religious community.

Members of Deen Foundation strongly condemn such inhumane attacks on the sufi shrines and pray that all those who have been affected by such attacks Allah make their lives easier and grants them success in the hereafter. Aameen.

Departure of Pir Sayyid Nazeer Hussain Shah (Sialkot, Pakistan)

On 10th July 2010 (27th Rajab night in Pakistan - Shabe Miraj), Pir Sayyid Nazir Husain Shah sahib (of Kharota Syedan, Sialkot) passed away from this world. May Allah Almighty grant him peace and a high status in the next world.

Pir Sayyid Nazeer Hussain Shah sahib was a well known personality in the religious, political and social circles of Sialkot. Pir Nazir Hussain sahib was a very religious and scholarly person. He led a life of piety and god consciousness. For more than 30 years he led the Friday prayer at the Hanfia Ghosia Masjid in cantt, Sialkot.

He was the khalifa of Zia-ul-Ummat Justice Pir Karam Shah sahib (May Allah Almighty elevate his status in the hereafter). Sayyed Nazeer sahib is also the father-in-law of Pir Aminul Hasnat Shah saheb (one of the sons of Pir Karam Shah sahib).

Following on the footsteps of his spiritual guide, Pir Karam Shah sahib, he established a branch of Muhammadiya Ghosia Madrasa in Kharota Syedan.

Director of Deen Foundation, Professor Hafiz Fateh Muhammad (May Allah Almighty bless his soul) had keen inclination towards Sayyid Nazir Shah sahib. He very much enjoyed his religious gatherings. In similar terms, Pir Nazeer Shah sahib also valued the companionship and scholarly status of Professor Qari Fateh Muhammad sahib.

All members of Deen Foundation pay their sincere condolences to the family members of Pir Nazir sahib and to all the spiritual followers of Zia-ul-Ummat Justice Pir Karam Shah sahib.

ابِر رحمت

ابھی ہم پر ایک بہت ہی پر نور اور بہاروں والا مہینہ  آنے والا ہے۔ یہ وہ مہینہ ہے کہ جس میں اللہ تعالی کی رحمت اور جودوسخا کے دروازے مومنوں پر کھل جاتے ہیں۔

فرشتے عرش سے یہ  صدا لگاتے ہیں، مچھلیاں سمندروں کی تہوں سے یہ ندا لگاتی ہیں، پرندے آسمانوں میں اڑتےہو ئے  ایک دوسرے کو پیغام دیتے ہیں اور انسان اس زمین پر ایک دوسرے کو یہ مبارکباد پیش کرتے ہیں کہ مبارک ہو وہ مہینہ آگیا ، وہ لمحات آگئے ، وہ گھڑیا ں آگئیں کہ جب رب  کریم نے اپنا سب سے محبوب اورلاڈلا اور عظیم پیغمبر اس دنیا میں مبعوث فرمایا تھا۔

ربیع الاول وہ رحمتوں اور سعادتوں والا مہینہ ہے  جس میں ہمارے نبی محترم صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم تمام کائنات کیلئے رحمت بن کر تشریف لائے۔ آپکی تشریف آوری تھی کہ دنیا سے ظلمتیں ختم  ہوگئیں۔ ہر طرف نور ہی نور پھیل گیا۔ وہ ظلمت اور اندھیرا  جو صدیوں سے چھایا تھا آپکی بعثت کے بعد وہ ہمیشہ کیلئے دور ہو گیا۔

ربیع الاول کا مہینہ وہ مہینہ ہےجس میں اللہ تعالی نے اس ذات مقدسہ کو اس دنیا میں بھیجا کہ جس کی وجہ ہی سے  اس دنیا کو بنا یا گیا ہے۔ یہ عرش و فرش، زمین و آسمان، مشرق و مغرب، شمال و جنوب، دریا و سمندر، آبشاروپہاڑ اور درخت و نباتات آخر کس کی یاد میں تخلیق کیے گے ہیں؟ یہ  چرند و پرند  کا اڑنا، شمس و قمر کی رونقیں، ستاروں کی جھرمٹ اور یہ دنیا کی محفلیں کس کے لیے قائم کی گئ ہیں؟  یہ اسی ذات مقدسہ کیلئے قائم  کی گئ ہیں جو اللہ کے آخری نبی ہیں، ہمارے آقاومولاہیں، نبیوں کے سردار ہیں اور وجہ تخلیق کائنات ہیں۔ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم۔

رب کائنات خود فرماتا ہیں کہ اے حبیب اگر آپ نہ ہوتے تو میں یہ دنیا کی محفل نہ سجاتا۔

اس دنیا میں جو بھی رونقیں ہیں، یہ آفتاب و مہتاب کی شعاعیں اور ستاروں کی کہکشاں ، یہ پھولوں کا کھلنا اور انکی رنگ و بو ، یہ سب حضور ماب ہی کے دم سے ہیں۔ آپکا آنا تھا کہ دنیا سے ظلمتیں چھٹ گئیں اور نور ہی نور چھا گیا۔

آپکا آنا تھا کہ انسانیت کو انسانیت واپس مل گئ۔ غریب و نادار کو  عزت و تکریم مل گئی۔ فقراء و مساکین کے جھکے ہوئے سر عرش کی بلندیوں کو چھونے لگے۔ نازک صنف عورتوں کو انکے چھنے ہوئے حقوق واپس مل گئے۔ وہ انسان جنکو ظالم سماج غلامی کی زنجیروں میں جھکڑا ہوا تھا، ہمارے نبی نے انکے گلے سے غلامی کا طوق اتار کر اس دنیا کے تحتوں پر بیٹھا دیا، مسجدوں کے مصلوں پر کھڑا کر دیا، درس و تدریس کی مسندوں پر جلوہ گر کر دیا۔ اور یہی نہیں بلکہ کعبہ اللہ کی چھت پر کھڑا کر کے انسے اذان کہلوائی تا کہ دنیا والوں کو اس بات کا بخوبی علم ہو جائے کا آج کے بعد کسی کو  اسکے رنگ و نسل، امیری اورسماجی طبقہ کی وجہ سے نہیں بلکہ اسکے تقوی و وری، علم و پرہیزگاری کی وجہ سے فضیلت ہو گی۔

اللہ کے سامنے ہماراظاہری حسن و جلال، ہمارا رنگ و نسل اور ہمارا مال نہیں کام دے گابلکہ اللہ تعالی ہمارے باطن کو دیکھتا ہے۔ اگر ہمارا باطن اچھا ہے تو ہمارا ظاہر بھی اچھا ہی ہو گا اور اگر باطن پاک و صاف نہیں تو  ہمارے ظاہری حسن و جلال کی اللہ کے سامنے کوئی وقعت نہیں۔

اللہ تعالی کااپنے پیارے نبی آقائے دو عالم سرور کائنات صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کو اس دنیا میں بھیجے جانے کا مقصد بھی یہی تھا کہ وہ ہمارے نفوس کو پاک و صاف کر کے رب کائنات کے سامنے کھڑے ہونے کے قابل  بنا دے۔ وہ ہمارے دلوں کو طاہر و طیب  بنا کر اللہ تعالی کی تجلیوں کا مرکز بنا دے اور ہماری سوئی ہوئی تقدیروں کو جگا دے۔ ہمیں اس قابل بنا دےکہ ہم اس زمین پر بھی چلیں تو  فر شتے قدموں کے نیچے اپنے پر بچھا دیں اور روز حشر میں ہو تو فرشتے اپنے پروں میں چھپا کر ہمیں اپنے رب کریم کے رو برو پیش کریں

ہم اللہ تعالی کا لاکھ لاکھ شکر ادا کریں کہ اسنے ہم کو رسول عربی صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم جیسا نبی معظم عطا فرمایا۔ ایسا نبی جس پر ہر قوم فخر کر سکتی ہے۔ ہم اللہ تعالی کا یہ احسان کبھی بھی نہ چکا سکیں گے کہ اسنے ہم گناہگاروں کو اپنا سب سے لاڈلا پیغمبر عطا فرمایا۔ اللہ تعالی خود فرماتا ہے کہ میں نے مومنوں پر ایک بڑا احسان کیا ہے۔ آخر وہ احسان کیا ہے؟

اللہ تعالی نے ہمیں زندگی عطا کی، رزق و طعام مہیا کیا، آسمان کی چھت اور زمین کا فرش بچھایا اور سر چھپانے کیلئے مسکن عطا کیا۔  بدن کی نعمت عطا کی۔ دو آنکھیں دیں جس سے ہم  دنیا کانظارا کر سکتے ہیں۔ کان دیے جس سے ہم دل کو بہلانے والی گفتگو سن سکتے ہیں۔ ہاتھ پائوں دیے جس سے ہم اپنی ضروریات پوری کر سکتے ہیں۔ ہمارا خیال رکھنے والے والدین، دلی محبت کرنے والے بہن بھائی اور دل کوپر سکون بنانے والی اولاد عطا کی۔

اللہ تعالی نے ہمیں عقل و فہم اور سمجھ بوجھ عطا کی۔ دوسری مخلوقات پر فوقیت دی ۔ ظاہری جاہ و جلال اور دنیا کی حکمرانی عطا کی۔ ہم کو زندہ رکھنے والی اور اس دنیا میں قائم و دائم رکھنے والی تمام نعمتیں عطا فرمائی لیکن کسی بھی نعمت کو جتلایا نہیں۔ مگر جب اپنا پیارا نبی اس دنیا میں مبعوث فرمایا تب اللہ تعالی نے کہا کہ اب اسنے ہم پر ایک بہت عظیم احسان کیا ہے۔ اور واقعتا بعثت نبی صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کل کائنات پر ایک احسان عظیم ہے۔

آپکی ذات وجہ تخلیق کائنات ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم نہ ہوتے تو یہ کائنات نہ ہوتی۔ اللہ تعالی نے بنو آدم کو  تکریم دی۔ اسکو احسن تقویم میں پیدا کیا۔ اپنے دست قدرت سے اسکی تخلیق کی اور اسکو اپنی صورت میں بنایا۔ یہ عزتیں اور کرامتیں انسان اور بشر کو اس لیئے دی گئی تھیں کہ اس عظیم رسول کو نوع انسان اور بشر سے مبعوث فرمانا تھا۔ اگر رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کو انسانوں میں مبعوث کرنا نہ ہوتا تو بشریت کا یہ فروغ نہ ہوتا اور نہ انسانیت کا یہ عروج ہوتا۔

اللہ تعالی نے آپکو تمام عالم کیلئے رحمت بنا کر بھیجا۔ آپ رحمت اللعلمین ہیں۔ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم۔ آپکی رحمت صرف انسانوں تک محدود نہیں۔ آپکی رحمت فقط حجاز والوں کیلئے، یا عرب والوں کیلئے، یا صرف مسلمانوں کیلئے محدود نہیں، بلکہ کل انسانیت کیلئے ہیں۔

فقط مسلمان ہی آپکی رحمت سے مستفید نہیں ہو رہے بلکہ کفار بھی آپکی رحمت   سے مستفید ہو رہے ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کا اس دنیا میں آنا تھا کہ اب اللہ تعالی کفار پر سابقہ امتوں کی طرح عذاب نازل نہیں فرمائے گا۔ نبی رحمت صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کے ذریعے انکو مہلت مل رہی ہے کہ وہ اللہ اور اسکے رسول پر ایمان لا کر اپنی دنیا و آخرت سنوار لیں۔

اسی طرح وہ کفار جو آپ پر ایمان نہ لائیں لیکن آپکے اسوہ حسنہ کو عملی طور پر اپنی زندگیوں میں لاگو کر لیں تو انکے لیے بھی ہمارے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کی ذات اس دنیا میں باعث رحمت اور کامیابی کا ذریعہ ثابت ہوتی ہے۔  ہاں البتہ دائمی و اخروی کامرانی و کامیابی صرف رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کے امتیوں کا ہی حصہ ہے۔

اگر رب ذوالجلال نے آپکو پورے عالم کیلئے رحمت بنا کر مبعوث کیا ہے تو یہ اس بات کی گواہی ہے کہ آپ کی رحمت فقط انسانیت تک محدود نہیں بلکہ اس عالم کی تمام مخلوق آپکی رحمت کی محتاج ہے۔ چرند و پرند، نباتات و جنات تمام حضور صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کے در پر سوالی بن کر آتے ہیں اور آپکی رحمت سے اپنی جھولیاں بھر کر واپس لوٹتےہیں۔ حضور صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کی ابر رحمت جب برستی ہے تو اپنے بھی اور بیگانے بھی سب اس سے فیضیاب ہوتے ہیں۔

کبھی ایک اونٹ آپکے در پر حاضر ہوتا ہے اور اپنے مالک کی شکایت کرتا ہے۔ حضور صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم اسکو بلا کر یہ حکم دیتے ہیں کہ اونٹ سے اتنا کام نہ لیا کرو۔ کبھی ایک چڑیا آپکی بارگاہ رحمت میں حاضر ہوتی ہے اور اپنے بچوں کی رہائی کیلئے عرض کرتی ہے۔ حضور صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم اپنے صحابی کو یہ حکم دیتے ہیں کہ وہ اس چڑیا کے بچوں کو آزاد کردے۔ چرند و پرند سب جانتے ہیں کہ اس دنیا میں اگر انکی کوئی فریاد سننے والا کوئی ہے تو وہ صرف حضور صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم کی ہی ذات مقدسہ ہے۔

جاندار تو ایک طرف وہ ٹنڈ منڈ درخت جس سے رحمت اللعلمین ٹیک لگا کر خطبہ ارشاد فرمایا کرتے تھے، جب آپ نے اس سے ٹیک لگا نا چھوڑ دیا وہ آپکی یہ جدائی برداشت نہ کر سکا اور سسکیاں لے کر رونے لگا۔ تب منبع رحمت و کرم نے اسکو اپنے آغوش رحمت میں لے کر یہ بشارت دی تھی کہ اس درخت کو بھی جنت میں داخل کر دیا جائے گا۔  رہتی کائنات تک اس بے جان درخت کی یہ گریہ زاری اسکے عشق رسول کی گواہی بن چکی ہے۔ فراق مصطفی صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم میں اسکا آنسو بہانا عاشق رسول کیلئے ایک زندہ و جاوید نمونہ و مثال بن چکی ہے۔

صحابہ کرام بھی اس درخت کی عشق رسول میں ڈوبی ہوئی سسکیوں پر جھوم اٹھے تھے۔ اور جب نبی رحمت نے اسکو اپنے سینہ نبوت کے ساتھ لگا کر جنت کی بشارت دی تو وہ اسکی قسمت پر رشک کرنے لگے تھے۔ اسیلئے امام حسن بصری رحمتہ اللہ علیہ فرمایا کرتے تھے کہ اے خدا کے بندو ں اگر ایک خشک لکڑی منصب رسالت کی عظمت کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے آپ کے فراق میں روئی تو ہمیں آپکی زیارت کا اشتیاق بدرجہا زیادہ ہونا چاہیے

ہم مومنوں کیلئے اس درخت نے ایک بینظیر مثال قائم کر دی ہے کہ اے ایمان والوں اگر تمھیں بھی جنت کی چاہت ہے تو یہ عشق رسول کے بغیر ممکن نہیں۔

اللہ تعالی نے ہم سب کو جس طرح حضور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ و سلم سے محبت کرنے کا حق  دیاہےاسطرح انسے محبت کرنے کی توفیق عطا فرمائےاور ہمارے مردہ دلوں میں عشق رسول کی شمعیں  روشن کرنے کی توفیق عطا فرمائے تاکہ ہم اپنے قلوب و اذہان کو عشق رسول میں ڈبو کر صحیح معنوں میں مسلمان بننے کی کوشش کریں۔ آمین۔

Ramadan - a month of charity

Ramadan is a month of charity.

Ibn `Abbas, one of Muhammad’s Companions, narrated: “The Prophet was the most generous amongst the people, and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadan when Jibreel visited him, and Jibreel used to meet him on every night of Ramadan till the end of the month. The Prophet used to recite the Holy Qur’an to Jibreel, and when Jibreel met him, he used to be more generous than a fast wind (which causes rain and welfare).” (Reported by Al-Bukhari)

Thus Muslims should try to give generously in the month of Ramadan, both sadaqah (optional charity) and zakat (obligatory charity). Most Muslims pay their zakah during Ramadan because the reward is so much greater in that month.

Come & Understand the Noble Qur’an

The Noble Qur’an is the word of God which was revealed in the month of Ramadan to the Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) The Glorious Qur’an is a source of guidance inspiration for all mankind and there are many ways in which the Qur’an. It is therefore important that Muslims study and understand the message that the Creator has send to the best of His creation, Man.

Reciting the Qur’an is described in the following Qur’anic verse as a profitable transaction, the profit of which shall never end. This is the case at any time of the year but in Ramadan the recitation and study of the Qur’an has greater status and significance due to many reasons.

Allah says: “Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend (in His cause) out of what We have provided them secretly and publicly, can expect a transaction (profit) that will never perish. That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them His bounty. Indeed He is forgiving and most ready to appreciate.” (Surah Fatir:30)

Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)  said, ‘Read the Qur’an, for verily it will come as an intercessor for its companion on the Day of Judgement.’ [Sahih Muslim]

It is recommended that one finishes a complete recitation of the Qur’an in the month of Ramadan. It is the Sunnah to complete reciting the whole Qur’an once every month.

The great scholars of Islam, the pious predecessors devoted most of their time in Ramadan to reciting and studying the Noble Qur’an. When Ramadan entered, Imam Malik used to leave his study of hadith and devote his total attention to the reading of the Qur’an. Imam Azam Imam Abu Hanifa and Muhammad Ibn Idris Al-Shaf’i would accomplish sixty completions of the Qur’an in Ramadan, all in the form of prayer.

In Makkah Masjid, the recitation of the Holy Qur’an is completed in the Taraweeh prayer (night prayer) every year. It has been a tradition of Madina Jamia Masjid and Makkah Mosque, for the last 25 years, that the key themes contained in a part of the Holy Qur’an that is recited each night is explained to the congregation after the Taraweeh prayer. This tradition was set up by the late Imam professor Shaykh Hafiz Fateh Muhammad (May Allah bless his soul), who fist served as an Imam and khateeb at Madina Jamia Masjid for 20 years and then founded the Makkah Masjid in 2003. This year since the Tarweeh prayer finishes around midnight, it has been decided by the Imams of the Masjid that rather than presenting the meaning and tafseer of the juz (part) of the Glorious Qur’an that is recited each night after the Night (Taraweeh) prayer, the same undertaking will take place after zuhr prayer each day.

Throughout the month of Ramadan, the Qur’anic study circles will be held every day after the Zuhr prayer at 2:15pm. In these Qur’anic study circles, the key theme(s) of each of the juz/sapara/part of the Holy Qur’an will be explained in English and Urdu by the Imams, Qari Asim and Qari Qasim.

Makkah Mosque study circles are open to Muslims and non-Muslims, brothers and sisters who have an interest in learning about Islam.
